Message from Francis Maza,
Mission Integration Director
The mission of the Catholic Health Ministry of Saskatchewan speaks of our commitment to promote and defend the human dignity of every man, woman, and child who receives care in our facilities. We are committed to attend to the "whole" person's need, which is beyond the physical and mental state, reaching to the very soul and spirit of the person. Our hope is to seek the common good for everyone regardless of their sex, culture, religion, or financial statues. We are committed to the service of all, by creating effective partnerships with healthcare regions and other organizations that are dedicated to serve the needs of the people of this province.
How the church is involved in healthcare in our world today has change dramatically from our humble beginnings. Today, God has called us to creatively meet the new challenges in providing the best 'holistic' care our hospitals and long term care residences can offer. I am reminded of a quote from Walter Brueggemann, a theologian who said: "What God does first and best and most is to trust us with our moment in history. God trusts us to do what must be done for the sake of God's whole community." This is our responsibility, our commitment, our mission.
